It provides a practical philosophy which expounds the technique for an active and peaceful life. Above all, it ushers one towards the goal of spiritual Enlightenment.

This chapter explains Brahman as the supreme source of the manifest world. Brahman eludes even the most evolved. Nevertheless the wise with devotion and dedicated effort reach Brahman.
Arjuna stands aghast at the astounding knowledge and personality of Krsna. Wondering at his infinite nature, he requests Krsna to reveal his manifestation in the universe. Krsna, personifying Brahman, details analytically his manifestation everywhere. Even as he reveals himself thus the lord elucidates that the entire manifested world is but an infinitesimal part of Brahman.
